How to Build an App in 24 Hours

Overview
Soto teamed up with Hair Hub, Nola Wilson's brainchild, for a Hackathon Event. Hair Hub aids in discovering, planning, and styling black hairstyles. Our collective mission: craft an iOS app in 24 hours, enriching user experience with personalized hairstyle management.
Swipe Left
The core of the app is a swiping interface, similar to popular dating apps. Users can swipe left or right to save or discard hairstyles. This feature is designed to be intuitive and engaging, making it easy for users to find their perfect look.
Users can save their favorite hairstyles, making it simple to revisit and choose the perfect look for any occasion. Affiliate links in style suggestions for direct product purchases, providing a monetization opportunity with affiliate brands.

Lessons in Prioritization
In software development, creating an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is all about building just enough to get the job done and make early users happy. Think of it as cooking a meal with the right ingredients to impress your guests without spending all day in the kitchen.
We were racing against the clock and with only 24 hours, prioritization was our only friend. We focused on the must-have features, like choosing a hairstyle category and saving those styles—these solved the main problem while bringing the most value. By doing this, we got something solid out the door that we were proud of.

Soto accomplished our goals with a quick turnaround and had a level of enthusiasm that made the collaboration both productive and enjoyable.
